About Me
Ben Hazel is a freelance trombonist and brass instructor based in the Raleigh/Durham area. He studied under the premier Trombone pedagogue Dr. Brad Edwards at Arizona State University and graduated with a degree in Trombone Performance with a focus in classical music.
As an avid performer Ben has performed in a large variety of both community and professional ensembles that boast a wide range of styles and instrumentation including the Scottsdale Philharmonic as the principal Trombonist and the Symphony of the Southwest.
In addition to his performance career, he has taught a large range of students in both individual and group settings with ages varying from elementary school through high school. He began his teaching career at Ligon Middle School as a Brass Instructor and has since worked at several other institutions in similar roles like Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix, Arizona.
As a Raleigh native, Ben was raised in the flourishing music scene in the area, playing in organizations such as Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble and Watson Brass Band and is excited to be able to contribute to the growing community.
